Aegis is a machine-wide firewall that monitors and controls AI tool network traffic.
Aegis at a glance
Aegis is a firewall that inspects and controls network traffic between AI tools (like ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and local models) and the internet, for developers, teams, everyday users, and parents who want oversight of AI traffic.
Good for
- Developers who want control over what their AI coding tools send, receive, and execute
- Teams that need to manage AI traffic across multiple machines
- Parents who want oversight of how their kids use AI tools
Pricing

Questions people ask
Does Aegis send my prompts to the company?
The cloud service and the USB Dongle use the cloud filter stack, so prompts go to Aegis under a zero data retention policy. The Edge Filtering Device runs the same filter backend locally, so those prompts stay on the device.
Does Aegis see my API keys?
No, API keys stay with the user. The filter backend only sees payloads, not keys.
What platforms does Aegis work with?
The USB products are regular USB network devices, and cloud filtering is also available as a standalone installer for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Mobile support is a stretch goal being designed for.
Is Aegis open source?
The project will be open source with a non-permissive license for commercial use, and a working proof of concept is already on GitHub under GPLv3. If the company folds, early backers get a perpetual license to all source code.
Will Aegis slow down my AI tools?
Yes, a bit, especially when gating streams, since it prioritizes correctness; users should expect filter latency on gated events rather than random freezes.
